Milano Cucina

There's something about Hutt Street that gets me excited with each visit. I usually pop by in the afternoon for some sweets from Au Matin (as seen here) or Mac Factory and the last time I was here for dinner was last year at Chianti (as seen here). Alas, I am here for dinner once again but this time to an Italian restaurant;)

We were fortunate enough to secure a seat as this place can get busy, especially with birthday/ gathering events.

The old school menu-on-the-board~

Sweet dessert wine~

Prawn pizza~ apologies for forgetting the name of this dish (as usual). Was delicious overall but I could do with a tad more topping;)

Risotto al Funghi~ this risotto consisted of 3 different types of mushrooms and it is well cooked (in my opinion, that is). Not overly dry and still retaining the fresh flavours of each ingredient used:)

Extra cheese to suit your palate~

Chocolate pudding~ I am still in my moist cake phase and had to have this little piece. Moist cake drizzled in a lovely chocolate ganache topped with chocolate shavings and a caramel piece.

Overall, delicious food but at a slightly more expensive rate than your usual Italian outlet. Food did take some time to arrive but I reckon it's worth the wait, if you're not in a hurry, that is:)

Bravo Cafe, David Jones

And meeting up with the sister, we couldn't decide where to go for lunch but thankfully, there are options for everyone in the city centre. I have never ever ate in any restaurants located in the shopping centers before so this would certainly be my first visit and I am not disappointed at all;)

Ambience was peaceful amidst the buzzing noise from passerbys and service was prompt and friendly.

Newspaper and coffee~ the classic way to start one's day. After working for half a year already, I am beginning to appreciate coffee as a morning pick-me-up drink:)

Pancakes topped with berries and cream~ after leaving college, I have vowed to never touch pancakes again but little did I know that I would soon be craving for them! Fluffy with butter-y scents. I'm now switching on my pancake search in Adelaide hehe.

If pancakes are not your usual cup of tea, how about a big brekkie? Oven roasted tomatoes, sauteed mushrooms, baked bread, grilled bacon pieces and your choice of scramble, poached or hard boiled eggs?

Overall: delicious and comforting food that does not hurt your wallet!:)

Pastries, pastries, pastries..why am I experiencing this strange attraction towards freshly-baked goodies lately? Until I find the answer to this question, I shall continue my search for some of the most delicious pastry outlets in Adelaide!!:)

This time round, I am exploring the wonders of a different part of goodwood. When I looked up this place, I simply had no idea where am I heading to (and I have been residing in Adelaide for 4 years already?!!). All I could do was cross my fingers and hope that I can easily spot this place. It is relieving to see a row of shops with occupants in it and after scouting around the area, I am now more determined to hang around this area in the future. So many restaurants/ cafes to choose from but so little time:(

Anyway, enough rambling and straight to the good stuff. The cafe is sufficiently spacious and I like the idea of having sofas for seating and dim lights to brighten up the place. No, I am not trying to promote romance here but I do feel really relaxed with this type of setting:)

Croissant~ still delicious despite being out of the oven for some time already. Crusty on the outside and fluffy, fresh on the inside. Not too sure how to describe it but just go try it for yourself, alright?;)

Lemon tart~ deceptive! Who knew a humbly little tart could outshine some of it's more glamourous friends? I have paid a fair amount of money to taste really decorative desserts in the past but am not always entirely satisfied. This little delight doesn't cost too much and there is certainly enough zest in it to make you come back for more:)

Apple turnover with ice cream~ nothing beats having warm pastries on a cold winter night. I may be silly to be gobbling down cold ice cream in this weather but heck, I'd still do it because it is a match made in heaven.  Sinfully delicious, indeed!

Pear tart~ another little hidden treasure. I like how the pear pieces still felt fresh and juicy in my mouth and the tart pastry is simply amazinggg:D

Rum baba~ Brioche soaked in rum, served with pistachios, prunes and cream. Such a pretty dessert! Once I bit into it, I could immediately taste the rum flavour gently entering my system but don't worry, this won't make you feel intoxicated!:)

So that was how my night ended. Enough pastries to last me until the following week. But wait! Pastries taste their best when they are first removed from the oven, right? At least that's what I think.Must never be too satisfied with what you have but instead, strive for greater things.

So I came back again LOL!!!

Pear pastry~ yummm...looking at this picture makes me drool all over again. And true enough, it did tasted better in the morning (but it is still delicious even after some time so don't be discouraged from visiting at night!).

Almond croissant! I have sampled almond croissants from different parts of Adelaide and I have to admit, this one has the right balance of sticky-sweetness and crunchy, crisp textures. My only complaint would be that it's too small (but then again, all good things come in small packages, hey?) But still!!:((

Iced milk chocolate with orange~ Never ever had iced chocolate with fruit before but I am definitely going to be more adventurous in the future. Who knew it could be so refreshingly delicious:P

Korea, Goodwood

Nothing beats having warm food in your tummy on a cold winter day whilst savouring the carefree moment. What I like about this place is the ample space available for diners to share with large groups of friends and quick, efficient service. It can get a bit noisy but that still did not put us off from having a lovely evening conversation.

Ok, I know this is definitely not where you would go for a little romance but heck, I live for the moment;) In terms of price, affordable. Only problem is the lack of ventilation in the dining area and hence, be prepared to smell smoky when you exit!

We opted for the set menu: Rice, soup, a choice of meat and unlimited refills of sides.

Beansprouts, picked cucumber, cauliflower, kimchi and seaweed~ we had about 3 refills simply because it was super refreshing:)

Beef~

The grill did not take long to cook our meat:)

Alas, dessert! Fried vanilla ice cream encrusted in cake crumbs and topped with a drizzle of honey. I like how a bit of the ice cream oozes out but still remains intact. Delicious and one of my must haves here:)

Dolce & Co

Managed to get a glimpse at this place on Facebook and knew immediately that I had to go here. Texted the sister and got the green light for a brunch trip here. Visited the market for some fresh groceries before jumping on the tram.

Not much sitting area but I think its the ideal place to go to for some peaceful "me" time:) Beautiful scenery and plenty of sunlight. Before I could even sit down, I couldn't stop browsing at the selection of goods tucked away under a glass frame. I could not decide which ones to pick! There's macarons, pastries, cakes, tarts and cookies to choose from. This is not making things easier for me lol

Passionfruit verrine~ jelly layer atop mousse but with more jelly pieces swimming in the mousse. Deceptive and delicious.

Raspberry lollipop~ Jam/ jelly, mousse, cake and biscuit layer. The perfect combination if you like tasting different textures:)

Framboise~ Raspberry overload!

Pina colada~ A zumbo-ish dessert. Caramelised bits of pineapple pieces in a mousse-ish block with some liquer in a syringe. Yup, pretty amazing;)

The passionfruit verrine was amazing (as you can tell from the picture). I have no idea how to describe it so I'll let the pictures do the talking;)

Overall, really really gorgeous pieces up for grabs and I would recommend bring a friend/ partner along so that you could taste a lot more before being too stuffed. The only downside that I could think of is that the place doesn't really open in the evening so it would be challenging for people like me, who lives further away from the city, to visit here often but hopefully, that would change in the future (for my sake hehe)
